Free Will
Free will is the term we use to describe the awareness that we have to consciously choose to make good decisions. At ThreeWill, we encourage each other to use our capacity to innovate when solving problems.
Free will is summed up well by author Stephen R. Covey in three sentences: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space, lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In those choices, lie our growth and happiness.”
At any moment, we have the freedom to choose to make the right decision, which can often be a difficult, to help each other and our clients to succeed.
Responsibility
We value an environment where people are accountable for decisions and responsibilities. To be responsible, it requires making and keeping commitments that help produce results. Being responsible is making conscious decisions in the “space between stimulus and response." A responsible person is in control of their life and is accountable for how they respond to everyday stimulus on projects for our clients and at the office.
An important aspect of being responsible is proactively setting your own goals that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely). ThreeWill incorporates goal setting into associate’s professional development plans, but responsible behavior also comes from self motivated individuals who are looking to add value to client engagements and internally at ThreeWill. Working with responsible people builds a high trust environment and is instrumental to “highly functional” teams.
Teamwork
We value teamwork and believe that we work for a larger purpose (help team members succeed, mentor others to help them move to the next level, and look at client relationships as partnerships). We keep the size of team small enough to effectively solve our client’s problems and work together cohesively.
Building great teams is critical to our success as a company. We have opportunities to form teams internally in our practice groups and externally through our client engagements. During our client engagements, we should realize that we are not just a project team, but part of a larger interdependent group that as a whole will ultimately determine the success or failure of a project.
Fairness and Honesty
We value building long lasting partnerships with clients in a fair and honest way that is equitable to both parties. Stephen R. Covey calls these “win-win” relationships; we will look to create engagements with clients that will create success for both parties. This also applies to internal company relationships (associate to associate).
Being fair and honest is a big part of providing quality service to clients with high integrity. If we are to build long lasting relationships with our clients, we need to be explicit in our decisions and do our best to lead them down the right path. If a risk or issue becomes apparent, we will raise this with our clients to give them the opportunity to react appropriately and enable them to address the problem. Sometimes this information is difficult to share with a client, but in the end, being honest is the right thing to do.
Personal Growth
We value personal growth because in order to thrive in technology consulting, it is critical that our associates are sharpening their inter-personal and technical skills. ThreeWill supports an environment that encourages people to grow in ways that allow them to be high contributors to our clients, our company, and our communities.
We provide facilities to “sharpen the saw” via activities in our practice groups and through the experiences we gain on client projects. Also, as a Microsoft Partner, we leverage the training and knowledge bases to be prepared for the next client project and/or solve problems on an existing engagement. We also encourage a community of people that help each other through knowledge sharing portals and workspaces.
Balance
We value the balance between personal and professional life. We foster an environment where people have a passion for what they do, but genuinely feel that there is more to life than just work. To achieve proper balance and achieve excellence at the workplace, we hold each other accountable for proper planning and effective use of time at work.
ThreeWill is committed to properly managing our engagements. We realize that there will be times where there are spikes in work hours, but if we see sustained periods of long hours on a project, we make sure that proper expectation management is done to get the project back to a normal work week.
